Juan de la Rubia, principal organist of the Basílica de la Sagrada Familia in Barcelona, is originally from Vall d’Uixó (Castellón). He began his training under the guidance of his father and Ricardo Pitarch.
His artistic education took place in several European capitals under the guidance of distinguished masters, including Óscar Candendo, Wolfgang Seifen, Michel Bouvard and Montserrat Torrent. He also received instruction from Olivier Latry and Ton Koopman.
The extraordinary awards he received upon completing his studies, together with first prizes at the Concurso Permanente de Juventudes Musicales de España and the Primer Palau, played a decisive role in the beginning of his career.
His active work as a soloist has taken him to leading venues in more than thirty countries around the world, such as the Palau de la Música Catalana, Auditorio Nacional de Música de Madrid, Konzerthaus de Berlín, Gewandhaus de Leipzig, Elbphilharmonie de Hamburgo, Auditorio de la Maison de Radio France de París, Mariinsky Theatre and Philharmonia of Saint Petersburg.
He has also performed in renowned cathedrals including those of Colonia, Berlín, Westminster, Viena, Ginebra, Bogotá, Ciudad de México, Túnez, as well as at the church of Saint-Sulpice in Paris.
